Dear Samuel,
So I woke up on Fathers’ Day at like 7:30am, figuring Daddy would still be asleep. Then I realized the reason WHY I woke up. Doggie Jack was on the patio, barking at the BLOWER (a.k.a. his fave present of the day, aside from the beer)…. that Daddy was using? On Fathers’ Day?!?
Soooo I said to Daddy, “Happy Fathers’ Day & what the heck are you doing working on your day???” He replied, “Well, I knew we’d be out back all day and I just wanted it to look nice for us, so I mowed the lawn and now I’m just cleaning up a bit.” (BTW – between you and me, the backyard could have been under 3 feet of pool toys and I wouldn’t have thought to pick them up on Mothers’ Day. But I digress.) Oh yeah, and he went for a run before the yardwork. All before 7:30am. You have one amazing Daddy…. one who is always thinking of you and me first, even on his special day.
We are so lucky to have such a great daddy to honor on Fathers’ Day! I asked you, “What do you love about your Daddy?’ …And this is what you said (and we wrote this in his card):
He snuggles me
He scratches my back
He does everything for me
I’m his son
He’s my coach
He plays ping pong with me
He plays with my blue remote control car
He’s my super, duper, ooper, looper DADDY!
Then you wrote, “Love, Samuel” at the end of your card!
You were such a good boy to Daddy on Fathers’ Day! You helped me set the breakfast table, were a good little guy at mass (and you got to sit in front of the Geisbrechts!) and made Daddy a card in Children’s Church. Then we went home for a fun day of watching soccer & golf, BBQing, and swimming in the pool. Uncle Lucas stopped by with Luke so we could give him the photo collage and the Guy Harvey T-shirt (late bday gift!). Before bed, we read a few of your EIGHTEEN library books.
Love you buddy!
